Stephen is a pragmatic Business Change Consultant and Project Management Professional with strong business acumen, senior management experience and a proven track record in strategic planning, business process management and change delivery.
Based in Aberdeen, Stephen is affiliated to Afiniti’s Programme and Project Management (PPM) Practice and its energy territory. His wide-ranging background in business management, process improvement and transformational change means that he operates as an ‘all-rounder’ driven to ensure that individuals and organisations realise true success.
He believes in the value of creating an effective Project Management Office (PMO) and has helped establish, worked within and managed PMOs and their associated programmes at both an operational and strategic level, predominantly in the Energy Services Sector. This included defining target operating models, scoping and delivery of replacement IT systems, creation and re-engineering of services, fire-fighting of critical business issues and adoption and development of a project and change methodology to support staff.
Stephen is methodical with the ability to process information, map processes, define requirements and ensure business cases and project plans are aligned to organisational goals while still considering the people impact of change (making change stick). He is passionate about improving project management maturity and advocates front-end investment in projects – particularly in requirements gathering, people engagement and planning. Process is important, however he wants to ensure that organisations get the right balance between governance and performance to ensure change is delivered effectively.
When not at work, Stephen spends time exploring the great outdoors with his partner, Hilary, and their two dogs, Kelso (Border Collie) and Oban (Flat Coated Retriever Puppy).
He loves playing sports and went through a spell of adventure challenges – London to Paris cycle, New York Marathon, First Monster, Great North and more.
